What Is Hidden Braces?
Because the brackets are custom positioned on the tongue side of the teeth, planning, placement and adjustments differ from front-facing braces. They can provide fixed-appliance control while meeting some patients’ preference for a discreet option.
Hidden braces may be considered for eligible teen and adult patients. Tooth shape, bite, treatment complexity, oral hygiene, comfort and goals all influence suitability. Other options may be more appropriate for some cases.
How Evaluation and Care Work

Review alignment, bite, jaw relationships and the records appropriate for diagnosis.

Compare suitable options, responsibilities, timing and estimated cost.

What Patients Should Expect
Patients need careful cleaning around the brackets and may experience a period of tongue irritation or speech adjustment. Food precautions and scheduled visits are similar in principle to other fixed appliances.
